Lasted about a year…OR SO I THOUGHT!
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
I’d like to amend my previous review, which gave this unit one star for dying so quickly. Well, I just bought Cuisinart 16 bottle wine cellar to replace Haier (which I’ve had for 3 years, and it has actually stopped going below 65 degrees 2 years ago)) and when I took the unit to throw it out I noticed the back vent was completely plugged up with your standard kitchen dust bunny/oil gunk. I cleaned it off and plugged it into the outlet 12 hours after the Cuisinart. It has chilled the wine to 55 degrees for the first time in 2 years, and it did it in about 3 hours! It won’t go any lower, and the ambient temperature is 67 degrees… but I thought it was completely dead and it isn’t! Now I’m wondering if my Cuisinart will live up to it’s promise as it’s been 20 hours and the inside temperature is 62 degrees (I have it set on 55).
Update. Turns out that my digital temp/hygrometer is ALSO off by about 8-9 degrees. So the inside of the Haier was probably 48 at its lowest setting! So basically… it still works after 3 years and I didn’t have to buy the Cuisinart!
Aweful piece of junk.

Received as a wedding gift, opened in November and came home tonight late January, and it’s just dead. Checked the fuses as mentioned online and both are fine. What a waste, lasted just three months.
Do not buy Haier products

I have owned our Haier wine cellar for about a year and a half. It is now broken. It now longer gets cool. I just called the company to get repair advice. They basically suggested that I just buy a new one. This is irresponsible. This company should be investigated. They need to make products that don’t break down and if they do offer decent customer service to get it repaired..not just to buy a new one..and put more trash in our landfills. I WILL NEVER BUY A HAIER PRODUCT AGAIN.
I never got the item

I will never order from this person again. I never got the order and when I emailed him the other day, he said he had taken it off of amazon before I order, but kept my money. He said after I emailed him that he will be refunding me, but I have not gotten it yet.

UNHAPPY CUSTOMER

Christmas 2009 , we were given a Haier dual zone wine cellar as a gift. I understand the item is different from the table top one, but the review is written regarding the company’s overall bad customer service.
In March 2009 the cellar was not working properly, we called Haier’s customer service Dept and we were told to mail them part of the electrical cord. We did , they signed for the package and we we told the check will be in the mail withing 45days. Here we are October 5 2009 and we are still waiting for the check. We have made 15 different phone calls to their customer service, we have tried to call their headquarters in NY (where after several prompts no human being came to the line)and we have filed a complaint with the General Attorney’ Offfice in New York .
I am strongly recommend to all of you out there , if you ever have any problems you will never be able to get them resolved.
I HOPE , SOMEONE OUT THERE, WILL TAKE TIME AND LOOK INTO THIS COMPANY….their vision posted on the web site regarding customer service is bunch of …(you know what…..)
STAY AWAY FROM THEIR PRODUCTS….THERE ARE OTHER COMPANIES THAT NEED OUR BUSINESS.
One for the trash heap.

Mywine cooler lasted just past the warranty then died. A fuse on the back panel burnt out. It costs more to repair it than to buy a new one.
Died after 14 months

I would not buy this machine even though the allure is the cheap cost. I bought mine 14 months ago and it died. I called Haier customer service and they reminded (a few times) that the cooler had a 12 month warranty. I asked for a supervisor rather than bantering with the customer service rep. The supervisor never returned the call. I called three times and finally the supervisor got on the phone. She too reminded me, a lot, that the warranty was 12 months only. She suggested I get it fixed. And when I asked if there was a defective part what would my recourse be, she reminded it was out of warranty. Further, I asked if they had a lot of calls on this machine – she didn’t answer my question.
Here’s the basic problems. The machine is pretty big – it weighs 36 pounds and if it costs $50 to fix it, do I get it fixed? If I don’t fix it it goes to a landfill. I told the Haier rep that it is really irresponsible of a company to build such large appliances that have a short life, the landfills really don’t need this. One Haier rep seemed to suggest she gets many of these calls. I haven’t gotten her on the phone again – she seemed to be an honest voice.
I asked the supervisor to place my complaint to corporate – I am not certain what will happen. For now, this 36 pound rather large machine sits in my living room. It’s too big to put anywhere else.
I would not buy another Haier product. Items should just last longer – 14 months and it is going to a scrap heap? I should have known better and gone to Sears, literally, if you have a receipt, they take anything back. Stay tuned and I will write what a corporate rep tells me.
Lousy product!

Like many others who have reviewed this product, I was happy with mine, but after 13 months, it stopped working. I looked at the owners manual to see if I could diagnose the problem, but there was no schematics. I took it too a local refrigeration company that repairs these types of appliances and they wanted $75.00 just too look at it.
If you buy one of these Haier wine refrigerators, make sure you buy an extended warranty because I’m sure that this refrigerator will also stop working some time in the future.
I did enjoy it while it worked and I didn’t have any problems with it, and I was able to get 12 bottles of wine in my refrigerator. I would buy another one, but I am going to look for a more reliable wine refrigerator.

I got this as a present. It worked just fine for about 2 years, then it stopped cooling the wine. I called the people at Haier and they basically told me tough. They gave me no remedy or service center, they told me it was out of warranty. I finally talked to someone at the corporate office who told me that they would replace it for a “convenience fee” of $64.99, they would throw in the shipping and handling. I would have to send them the cord and serial tag with a check.
BUYER BEWARE OF HAIER!!!!!

AVOID THIS COMPANY!! My unit arrived broken. Haier customer service was rude & obnoxious. They were completely unapologetic & seemed to go out of their way to be UNHELPFUL. When I finally bullied them into action, they wanted a full week to send out a service man who may or may not have been able to fix it. I spoke to both customer service and corporate, both were extremely rude and entirely useless. What’s more, neither one had the decency to so much as apologize. NEVER AGAIN.
This was every internet buyer’s nightmare!
Inexpensive thermo-electric wine cooler won’t last
Rating:1 out of 5 stars
This baby (Haier HVT12ABS 12-Bottle-Capacity Table-Top Wine Cellar, Black with Silver Trim) hummed away on my kitchen counter for just about a year, seemingly doing its job adequately. Then, one day, I noticed that the fan was running continuously and, yet, the temperature inside was the same as the room temperature. Something in the Peltier thermo-electric cooling system had expired, as had the one-year warranty. Searching Amazon and other web sites, I’ve learned that I’ve now joined the growing throng of unhappy owners. After this, I will be very hesitant to buy another Haier product. Caveat emptor. ‘Nuff said?
When it works it is great

I also got their product and it died after a few months.
I did get a replacement which took a while and they needed all the information you can think of before they would send the replacement.
But after another couple of months the new one died too. I will not bother wasting my time trying to replace it again.
But when it works it is a perfect size and it is very quiet.
Cannot recommend this wine cellar

My Haier wine cellar also died within the warranty period. I contacted the company and followed its instructions to receive a replacement unit for a $14.95 shipping fee. Haier does not ask you to ship a malfunctioning unit back to them, but instead you have to cut off the electric cords and the model and serial number stickers from the unit and return those along with your receipt to prove you owned the unit. I thought that was odd until I learned I had to pay $40 to my local township for disposal of the first cellar because of the freon in it — clearly Haier does not want to take on the costs of disposing of its problem units. In my case, a new unit arrived as promised and died within 2 months! This time I’m shipping back the whole unit to Haier with the request that they reimburse me both for the cost of the original unit and the disposal fee I paid for the first one. I have low expectations of a response, but I’m not paying another $40 disposal fee. I’d rather pay the return shipping costs and leave Haier with the problem and costs of disposing of their own bad product.
Piece of Junk

Unit died just after end of one-year warranty. While Haier offered to replace the unit at close to its original price (including shipping) I won’t take a chance on the product again given other customer experiences. I highly recommend purchasing a different brand.
