Very poor product that will not last.

I was given mine as a gift. The fan was a bit loud and ran constantly so I unplugged it until I would need the wine chilled. When I did finally plug it in, we later found the glass cracked leaving a mosiac pattern throughout the entire window. Within a few months, the unit stopped working altogether. For the high price being charged, it’s just not worth it. I would say it’s worth maybe $60 at most given the short life span.

Vinotemp 16 Failed after 1 year

We bought this unit at Target for a very reasonable price. I was a little surprised that the fan ran constantly even when the room was cool. We keep it in the basement where it is usually mid 60 degrees.

The unit failed at about the 1 year mark. The display doesn’t work and there is a clicking noise with a flashing red and green light in the back. I called Vinotemp and they said it was the controller and that I could buy a new one online for about $35 plus $10 shipping. Like the other reviewers, I was not impressed by the Vinotemp service personnel. But I still decided to order the part because I can’t see putting something that still looks brand new in the trash or spending about $200 for a new one. I’m crossing my fingers that the company has corrected the problem in the new controller. It may be that I am spending good money after bad. Its a crap shoot at this point.

Works great until it dies an early death

The wine celler seemed to work great for about one year. Then, like others have described, it stopped working and only makes a clicking sound. Do not buy Vinotemp products!

    Don’t expect it to last
    Rating:2 out of 5 stars
I guess I was lucky compared to others, I got 18 months out of it. The temp display went out and I had the ticking noise that other reviews mentioned. It could not handle a warmer room (couldn’t keep the temp I had set it at) but simply moving elsewhere solved the problem. I’m glad I got it on clearance and only spent $50, but I don’t recommend it at any other price. I wonder if ANY of the smaller free standing units last, at least one that is affordable. Seems like most reviews complain they only last 6-18 months.

    Broke after 18 months
    Rating:1 out of 5 stars
Unit stopped working after 18 months. After contacting the company they suggested a new control board which cost around $50 including shipping and tax. Installing new control board was relatively easy, but you do have to solder it. This unit will not keep wine cool in a warm environment. Our unit struggles to stay down at 57 degrees when the room temperature is 75 or higher. We now have it on a surge protector which will hopefully prevent the second control board from blowing out. Overall I would not recommend this unit unless your house is already cool.

Will NOT last 2 years guaranteed
    Rating:1 out of 5 stars
Bought this Vinotemp wine fridge because of low price. Promply died 4 months after warranty expired. Read other reviews please. Also Thermo-Electric cooling is not like real fridge. If your house is 75-80 degrees in summer this thing will almost blow up trying to get to 65-70 even though it is set on 55. Do not buy this fridge or any one like it.

    Good for a year ….
    Rating:2 out of 5 stars
Worked like a champ for a little more than a year… then promptly died. Out of warranty of course.

Great until it died 2 months out of warranty
    Rating:1 out of 5 stars
This was really a terrific little wine fridge, but it completely died 2 months out of warranty. The company said it sounded like the electronic control board was bad. They would be happy to send me a new one for $35 and then I could take it to a repair person to install, at our expense of course. We followed all the recommendations on where to locate the unit and how to maintain it, so we were pretty disappointed that it went bad after only 14 months.

    Great buy!
    Rating:5 out of 5 stars
I have bought this unit as a suggestion from a friend and it has been working “as advertised”

This is a perfect wine chiller for our kitchen counter area where we have a few reds and whites that are at a perfect serving temps at all times.

Thanks to Amazon for having this product on their website!!

    Broke After Warranty Expired
    Rating:1 out of 5 stars
Mine broke after warranty expired and Vinotemp told me my choices were 1) ship them the broken fridge at my own expense and pay to have it repaired. 2) Buy a new model.

Yes theirs is a little cheaper but you get what you pay for….

A great little wine chiller for the price
    Rating:5 out of 5 stars
I was a little nervous about buying this online after reading several lackluster reviews. Then I found it last week at our local Target for less than 1/2 the price of similar coolers.

I decided to give it a try and have been quite pleased so far. It took a couple days for the unit to reach its lowest temperature setting of 50 degrees F (I could not find the low temp setting anywhere online). This could be because the bottles I placed in it were had not come down to the set temperature yet. I set it to this lowest setting because I had read a couple reviews that said this unit would not go much lower than 60 degrees F. I was happy to see the unit reach 50.

The box was torn up a bit but the unit was undamaged when I unpacked it. There is not much packing material between the outside of the box an the unit which could be a problem if they are not handled properly. Installation and set up was a breeze. I filled up all the slots with 16 bottles and they all fit perfectly (even a couple Champagne bottles)

Thermoelectric cooling is a bit different than a refridgerator. It is dependent on the external tempterature. I would say this unit needs to be in a room between 68 and 78 degrees with proper ventilation in order to hold the temperature.

We had initially purchased the Cuisinart 12 bottle unit (CWC-1200) but returned it because of some cosmetic damage. I thought for less than half the price we would try the Vinotemp. So far, we have not been dissappointed. Get it at your local Target if you can. I found it at the 2nd store I visited.
